The primer is invisible — but without it, the visible layer won’t hold. Peeling paint, cracking putty, swelling coverings: these issues almost always trace back to a skipped or poorly chosen primer.

The deep primer and surface hardener regulate absorbency and strengthen the crumbling substrate. On drywall, brick, old lime plaster, and concrete, this is a mandatory step — without substrate preparation, paint, putty, or covering materials applied on these surfaces dry unevenly and don’t adhere properly. For old, mineral-based surfaces — mold-damaged plaster, highly absorbent brick, walls showing salt movement — a special primer is needed: a formula that can treat salts and weakly bound surfaces, not just balance absorbency.

For breathable lime systems, a special primer is a system component, not an option: a vapor-permeable primer compatible with the wall’s physics is required. Synthetic deep primers seal the surface — the system’s breathability is lost, and lime plaster or lime paint won’t behave as intended.

Where mechanical adhesion is reinforced by chemical bonding, a reactive primer is used in the system: for epoxy-based floor coatings and industrial surfaces, the first layer relies on reactive chemistry, not dispersion — this provides the adhesion strength required by the load. Where the substrate is smooth and non-absorbent — such as tile-on-tile applications, overlays, or smooth concrete — the bonding bridge provides mechanical grip without needing to roughen the substrate.

Paint primer is the first step in every painting system — both indoors and on facades. On drywall, paint applied without priming leaves stains because the cardboard and gypsum absorb the material at different rates. On old, repaired walls, the primer hides differences in absorbency — without it, the topcoat won’t cover evenly.
