Sheet waterproofing is the traditional and proven solution for larger horizontal and sloped waterproofing tasks. Bitumen or plastic-based waterproofing sheets create a high-strength, durable waterproof layer on flat roofs, terraces, foundations, and tunnel walls alike.
The bitumen waterproofing sheet is a modified bitumen-based, polymer-reinforced (APP or SBS modified) sheet that can be attached to the substrate by torch welding, self-adhesive application, or mechanical fastening.
SBS modified bitumen sheet: Flexible, bendable even in cold temperatures, with good adaptability — suitable for flat roofs where temperature fluctuations and movement are expected.
APP modified bitumen sheet: Better heat resistance in warmer climates, with a higher softening point — ideal for south-facing roofs and asphalt-like terraces.
Root-resistant variant: For green roofs and garden terraces where plant roots could damage the substrate and waterproofing.
PVC, TPO, and EPDM-based plastic waterproofing sheets offer a lightweight, UV-stable, and mechanically strong alternative to bitumen systems. They can be welded and fixed mechanically or with adhesives.
The durability of sheet waterproofing depends on the quality of application: joints should be overlapped by at least 10 cm and welded airtight along the entire length. Additional reinforcing strips are necessary at edges, corners, and penetrations. The substrate’s evenness and dryness are critical — bitumen sheets applied on a wet substrate will blister.
