The waterproofing system consists of several components — and its durability depends on the correct application of all elements. The primer, edge tape, reinforcing mesh, and connection profiles are not optional accessories: system certification and manufacturer instructions define these as mandatory system components.
Primer: The condition for adhesion of the waterproofing membrane to the substrate. On absorbent substrates, it regulates absorbency; on smooth, non-absorbent substrates, it provides an adhesion surface. Incorrect primer or missing primer is the primary cause of membrane detachment.
Edge sealant and corner tape: Mandatory reinforcing elements at wall-floor joints, corners, and edges. The membrane is thinnest and movement is greatest at these points — the tape holds the membrane even in case of cracking.
Reinforcing mesh: The membrane’s reinforcing insert at flat transition zones and junctions. Embedded between the two layers of the brushable membrane, it mechanically holds the system together.
Connection and transition profiles: Where the waterproofing system meets another material — at wall and floor boundaries, door thresholds, terrace edges — these elements ensure a watertight connection.
The waterproofing membrane performs well on flat surfaces. Defects almost always occur at connections, edges, and details. The system accessories address exactly these critical zones — without them, the system fails at its most vulnerable points.
