Kerakoll Microresina Xtreme is a transparent protective layer, which is the final step of the microcement or Microresina system. It is applied over the colored layer – this makes it waterproof, hygienic, and durable. In showers, kitchens, and restaurants, this layer ensures durability. Matte, transparent, it does not change the depth of the color. This is the finishing layer of the Cementoresina, Cementoresina Wall, Microresina Floor, and Microresina Parquet systems.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is a protective layer needed for microcement?
The microcement color layer is water-sensitive, absorbent, and not hard enough. The protective layer makes it waterproof (W3), hygienic, and scratch-resistant. Without the protective layer, microcement deteriorates within a few months in showers or kitchens.

Can it be used in showers?
Yes, if the complete system is applied correctly. It has W3 water resistance, but only after full curing. A mandatory 48-hour waiting period after application is required before the shower can be used.

How much is needed per square meter?
For floors: 60 ml/m² per layer, 2 layers = 120 ml/m². For parquet: 70–80 ml/m² per layer, 1–3 layers. An extra layer is recommended for commercial spaces.

How long does it take to dry?
Dust dry in 1 hour. Next layer after 2–3 hours. Walkable after 2–4 days (residential), 7–10 days (commercial). Water contact after 48 hours.

How long does it last?
Depends on traffic and surface use. It can be renewed: after sanding, a new protective layer can be applied without redoing the underlying layer.

How scratch-resistant is it?
Taber test <18 mg – withstands heavy traffic (restaurants, shops). Does not wear out in dark colors either, because it is transparent – the color is in the underlying layer.

Why is the HACCP certification important?
It certifies that the surface meets food industry hygiene standards. Often a regulatory requirement for restaurants, cafes, industrial kitchens. Cleanable, disinfectable, does not absorb moisture.

Is it safe for children's rooms?
Yes. EN 71-3 certified – free of heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium). The same standard applied to children's toys.

Can it be purchased separately?
Yes. If there is already a base layer and only the protective layer needs to be replaced. If you are repairing an existing surface. Or if you need to protect a larger area than initially planned.
