Parquet resin coating is a liquid resin-based surface treatment system that can be applied to wooden floors, offering significantly different aesthetic and performance characteristics compared to traditional varnish or oil. It can also be applied on existing parquet without replacement or demolition — one of the system's most practical advantages.

What is parquet resin coating?

Parquet resin coating is a reactive resin-based paint for wooden floors: a liquid consistency system that can be applied with a roller or spatula, which, after curing, forms a silky, wear-resistant, joint-free surface over the wood. It does not cover the natural grain and texture of the wood — in transparent or slightly tinted versions, the wood remains visible beneath, but covered with a uniform, continuous coating.

How is it different from varnish or oil?

Parquet varnish forms a hard film layer that can scratch and requires sanding of the entire surface if damaged. Oil protects from within but requires regular maintenance and care. Resin coating is between the two: it provides stronger mechanical protection than oil but is more flexible and less prone to scratching than traditional varnish. Additionally, it is joint-free, which means an aesthetically uniform surface.

Can be applied without demolition

On existing, solid, dry, and properly prepared parquet, resin coating can be applied without replacing the parquet. After sanding the surface, filling gaps, and applying the appropriate primer, the system is built on the existing parquet. This is especially valuable for older parquet where the original wood quality is good but the surface is worn.

Compatible with underfloor heating

Parquet resin coating is also available in versions compatible with underfloor heating systems. Underfloor heating subjects the substrate to temperature cycles that stress the coating's flexibility — compatibility is detailed in the manufacturer's datasheet and must be checked before application.

What to consider during application?

Applying resin coating is a professional task. Compatibility with the primer, accuracy of mixing ratios, and adherence to processing times are mandatory. The wood's moisture content must be measured before application — high wood moisture content can cause bubbles and adhesion failures.
