Normal substrate leveling under vinyl flooring? Even the smallest unevenness shows through — adhesive won’t hold, tiles ripple. Keralevel Eco Ultra provides an ultra-smooth top layer, and tiles can be applied after 2–6 hours. Certified for ships too — vibration and thermal cycle resistant. This is Kerakoll Keralevel Eco Ultra.

Made in Italy. Kerakoll Sassuolo — building material innovation since 1968.

  • Under vinyl, PVC, LVT, linoleum, rubber: no bleed-through, no waviness — ultra-smooth top layer, adhesive sticks evenly
  • Tiles can be applied the same day: 2 hours for 5 mm layer, 6 hours for 20 mm — project keeps moving
  • For floor and wall: same bag — mixed thicker for walls (Keraplast Eco 337 latex). For thick wall applications, Keralevel Eco LR is the wall specialist
  • Restaurant, hotel, office: does not indent, withstands traffic — CT-C30-F7 strength (EN 13813)
  • Swivel chair, roller, point load: tested — EN 12529, minimum 1 mm layer
  • Certified for ships: maintains adhesion under vibration and thermal cycles — strict maritime certification
  • 1–20 mm in one layer: from thin skim coat to 2 cm level difference — no need to apply twice
  • Safe for indoor use: EC1 Plus certification — very low VOC emissions

What is it suitable for?

Substrates: Cement plaster, cement screed, concrete (precast or cast in place), cement panel, cellular concrete panel. Mineral screed made with Keracem Eco, Keracem Eco Pronto, and Keracem Eco Prontoplus binders. Cement-based adhesive residue. Substrate leveled with Keralevel Eco or Keralevel Eco LR products. Underfloor heating.

With primer: For absorbent cement substrates Active Prime Fix. For highly absorbent, less dense substrates Keradur Eco. For smooth, low-absorption surfaces (ceramic, smoothed concrete, oxidized adhesive residue) Active Prime Grip. Gypsum plaster and anhydrite screed: Active Prime Fix MANDATORY (sanding beforehand for anhydrite).

Surfaces: Horizontal (floor) and vertical (wall). For walls, adding Keraplast Eco 337 latex is recommended to achieve a denser, non-flowing consistency (see Application Areas). For thicker wall applications, Keralevel Eco LR is also worth considering — single layer up to 25 mm, inherently thixotropic.

Coverings: Ceramic, porcelain stoneware, natural stone, parquet, LVT, PVC, rubber, linoleum (ultra-smooth surface is mainly positioned for these), textile flooring, cork.

Adhesive types: Cement-based tile adhesives (e.g., H40 Gel and other H40 family products), one- and two-component organic mineral adhesives, epoxy- and polyurethane-based reactive adhesives — all common types of flooring adhesives are compatible.

Spaces: Residential, commercial, industrial buildings, public institutions, restaurants, hotels, shops — indoor and outdoor. Ships (with maritime certification).

Special applications: Swivel chair offices (EN 12529, min. 1 mm), warehouses with forklift traffic, upscale apartments and hotels.

Not suitable for: Drywall. Highly flexible or heat-expanding substrates. Continuous wetting. Single layers thicker than 20 mm.

Which Keralevel product is needed?

  • 1–10 mm horizontal floor, ready in 24 hours: Keralevel Eco — best price, 4-hour pot life.
  • 1–25 mm, floor or wall, tileable within 2 hours: Keralevel Eco LR — inherently thixotropic, single layer up to 25 mm, the family’s wall specialist.
  • Under vinyl/PVC/LVT/rubber flooring, ultra-smooth surface, 1–20 mm: Keralevel Eco Ultra — this is the product. It can also be used on walls, mixed thicker with Keraplast Eco 337 latex.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is an ultra-smooth surface necessary under vinyl flooring?
Vinyl, PVC, LVT, and rubber are thin and flexible — any substrate unevenness will show through. An ultra-smooth top layer is required so the adhesive bonds evenly and no bubbles or waves remain under the tiles.

Which leveling compound is needed under vinyl and LVT flooring?
One that provides an ultra-smooth surface and can be tiled quickly. Kerakoll Keralevel Eco Ultra offers both — when applied with a smooth steel trowel, it creates an ultra-smooth top layer, and flexible coverings can be installed after 2 hours at 5 mm thickness.

Can it be applied on walls as well?
Yes. The TDS approves it for both floors and walls. For walls, to achieve a denser, non-flowing consistency, mix approximately 2.5 liters of Keraplast Eco 337 latex and about 2.5 liters of water per 25 kg bag. For thicker wall applications, Keralevel Eco LR is also an option — it is thixotropic by nature and can be applied in a single layer up to 25 mm.

What adhesives can be used for tiling?
Compatible with all standard cement-based tile adhesives — for example, Kerakoll H40 Gel and the entire H40 family. One- and two-component organic mineral adhesives, as well as epoxy- and polyurethane-based reactive adhesives, can also be used. For parquet and flexible flooring, check residual moisture with a calcium carbide moisture meter before gluing.

What does certified for ships mean?
Keralevel Eco Ultra is officially approved for maritime use. On ships, floors are exposed to continuous vibration and thermal cycles — if it holds adhesion and strength there, it will withstand use in restaurants or hotels as well.

What does the CT-C30-F7 class mean?
Certification according to EN 13813: CT = cementitious leveling compound, C30 = 30 N/mm² compressive strength after 28 days, F7 = 7 N/mm² flexural strength. C30 is the higher strength category of EN 13813 — it maintains the surface under point loads and commercial traffic.

How long until it can be tiled?
About 2 hours for a 5 mm layer, about 6 hours for a 20 mm layer (+20 °C, 65% RH). Longer in cold and high humidity. Check residual moisture with a calcium carbide moisture meter before installing parquet or flexible flooring.

Can it be applied in swivel chair offices or warehouses?
Yes. Tested according to EN 12529 for point and rolling loads, minimum 1 mm layer thickness. The 28-day surface hardness is ≥ 65 N/mm² — the roller does not indent, and the surface does not wear.

Keralevel Eco Ultra or Keralevel Eco LR?
They are for different purposes. The Ultra: for flexible floors (vinyl, PVC, rubber), ultra-smooth surface — main use. The LR: the family’s wall specialist, inherently thixotropic, can be applied in one layer up to 25 mm, tileable within 2 hours. Both can be used on floors and walls, but their profiles differ. Use Ultra for flexible floors, LR for thick wall applications.

Is a primer needed?
Yes. For absorbent cement substrates use Active Prime Fix, for highly absorbent or loosely compacted substrates use Keradur Eco, for smooth or low-absorption surfaces use Active Prime Grip. On gypsum- or anhydrite-based substrates, using Active Prime Fix is mandatory — without primer, the leveling compound will not adhere.

How many m² does a 25 kg bag cover?
Material requirement ≈ 1.9 kg/m²/mm. A 25 kg bag covers ≈ 13 m² at 1 mm thickness, ≈ 2.6 m² at 5 mm, and ≈ 1.3 m² at 10 mm.

Can I apply it myself?
Technically yes, but the 20-minute pot life requires fast, coordinated work, and achieving an ultra-smooth surface demands trowel practice. For large areas or under flexible flooring (vinyl, LVT), a professional is recommended — any wave will be visible and felt there.

User guide

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Mandatory on gypsum-based substrates Active Prime Fix | 20 minutes pot life — work quickly | Slower setting in cold weather (<15 °C) | At least 3 mm layer recommended for vinyl/PVC/rubber flooring

Preparation (all surfaces): Substrate must be clean, dry, and stable. Remove dust, grease, crumbling parts, wax residues, and form-release agent residues — mechanically or with suitable chemical products. The substrate must have passed hygrometric shrinkage. Keep expansion (movement) joints in the substrate — the leveling compound does not bridge them.

Priming (depending on substrate):

  • Absorbent cement substrate (concrete, plaster, screed) → Active Prime Fix, wait 4 hours
  • Highly absorbent, loosely compacted substrate → Keradur Eco surface enhancer
  • Smooth, low-absorption surface (ceramic, smoothed concrete, oxidized adhesive residue) → Active Prime Grip
  • Gypsum plaster → Active Prime Fix MANDATORY
  • Anhydrite screed → sanding beforehand according to manufacturer’s instructions, then Active Prime Fix MANDATORY

Mixing: 25 kg powder + ≈ 5 l water. Pour ¾ of the water into a clean container, then gradually add the powder. Mix with a screw mixer at low speed (≈ 400 rpm) until lump-free. For large quantities, use a slowly rotating electric mixer with vertical blades. Ready immediately, no resting time needed. Pot life: 20 minutes. DO NOT add more water than the ≈ 5 l for 25 kg — excess water reduces strength and increases shrinkage. DO NOT add other binders, additives, or colorants to the mix.

Application: Spread with a smooth steel trowel, pressing firmly to expel air from porous areas. Then smooth with a hard sponge trowel for an ultra-smooth surface. For thick layers (>10 mm or uneven substrate), apply in multiple layers until desired thickness is reached. Can be tiled after 2 hours at 5 mm, after 6 hours at 20 mm.

On walls (vertical application): A thicker, more stable consistency than for floor application is required — for a 25 kg bag ≈ 2.5 l Mix Keraplast Eco 337 latex and ≈ 2.5 l water. On highly flexible or moving substrates, first apply Keragrip Eco Pulep adhesion promoter and alkali-resistant mesh with 4×5 mm grid spacing. For thicker wall applications use Keralevel Eco LR which is thixotropic — up to 25 mm in one layer.

Vinyl/PVC/LVT/rubber flooring: An ultra-smooth surface is required. Smooth gently with a sponge float. At least 3 mm layer recommended. Check residual moisture with a calcium carbide moisture meter before tiling.

Parquet: At least 3 mm layer recommended. Check residual moisture with a calcium carbide moisture meter before gluing.

Thin smoothing (porosity filling, <3 mm): For 25 kg bag ≈ 1.5 l Mix Keraplast Eco 337 and ≈ 3.5 l water.

Special cases:

  • Flexible or moving substrate → Keragrip Eco Pulep + alkali-resistant mesh with 4×5 mm grid + Keraplast Eco 337 latex mixture
  • Large areas (>50 m²) → keep mesh and expansion joints

Temperature and setting: +5 °C – +30 °C. Times lengthen in cold. Protect from direct sunlight and drafts during setting.

Cleaning: Clean tools with water while fresh. After setting, only mechanically.
