Why does acetic silicone turn marble yellow?
Traditional acetoxy silicone releases acid into the pores of the stone. This causes yellowing and staining on marble and limestone. Neutral-curing silicone contains no aggressive, migrating components, so it does not attack the stone.
Which silicone is suitable for marble and natural stone?
Neutral-curing silicone, such as Neutro Color. It is non-acidic, so it does not yellow or stain marble. It is suitable for both porous and non-porous stone.
What does neutral-curing silicone mean?
A silicone that does not release acid during curing. Traditional silicone releases acetic acid, which attacks stone and metal. The neutral version is gentle, making it suitable for marble and natural stone.
Can it be used in bathrooms, showers, and swimming pools?
Yes, including in wet areas and swimming pools. The joint remains waterproof and flexible. It can also be used outdoors and in areas exposed to frost, such as terraces and façades.
Neutro Color, Silicone Color, or Silmat Color—which should I choose?
For marble and delicate natural stone, Neutro Color is the reliable choice. For general ceramics, mosaics, and swimming pools, choose Silicone Color in 50 colors. For a matt, paintable surface, choose Silmat Color.
What width of joint can I seal with it?
Suitable for joint widths between 6 and 25 mm. The ratio of width to depth should be between 1 and 2. For wider joints, Kerakoll Joint polyethylene backer rod is required to control the depth.
Does the color remain durable outdoors, even in frost?
Yes, it is UV-, ageing- and frost-resistant. It retains its shape between -40 and +100 °C. It can also be used on balconies, terraces and façades.
When should I NOT use neutral silicone?
Do not apply it to rubber, plastic or bituminous substrates, as these may release oils and plasticisers. It is also unsuitable for joints exposed to heavy wear. It will not cure in a completely enclosed, unventilated space, and cannot be painted over afterwards.
How much silicone does one cartridge cover?
One 310 ml cartridge is enough for approximately 3 linear metres of joint with a 1×1 cm cross-section. Less for narrower joints, more for wider ones. For an exact figure, see the material consumption table under Technical data.
Can I apply it myself?
Yes, you need a cartridge and caulking gun. Apply masking tape to the edges, press the sealant deeply into the joint, then smooth it with soapy water. If you would rather leave it to a professional, the Masterworks team can handle both grouting and sealing.

Neutro Color is part of the Color Fill palette designed by Piero Lissoni. Its 12 shades come with KK colour codes (KK 2, 12, 66, 68, 69, 71, 76, 86, 107, 109, 110, 152), allowing the silicone for marble joints to coordinate with the Color Fill grout colours — one tone from the tile through the joint to the sealant.
