What is it suitable for?
Covering materials (joint edges):
All types of porcelain tiles, thin tiles, ceramic tiles, clinker, glass and ceramic mosaics; glass and glass fiber.
On absorbent substrates (for example, ceramic or natural stone), staining may occur along the edge of the joint—carry out a test before application.
Joint type:
Elastic, waterproof sealing of expansion, sectioning and connecting (movement) joints—instead of rigid grout, where the covering moves.
Areas:
indoors and outdoors, including frost-exposed areas — balconies, terraces, indoor floors, bathrooms, showers and pools. It can also be used around bathroom fixtures and metal doors and windows.
Not suitable: Natural stone, marble, granite — acetoxy silicone may stain the stone; use the neutral sealant Neutro Color instead. Cement-based substrates, rubber, plastic and bitumen; surfaces that release oil, solvents or plasticisers. Elastic joints exposed to heavy wear; concrete façade construction. Completely enclosed, unventilated spaces (silicone cures using moisture from the air). Sensitive metals (copper, silver and their alloys) — only after a preliminary test.

Why does grout crack in corners and at movement joints?
Rigid grout does not accommodate tile movement, so it cracks in corners and expansion joints. These joints require a flexible silicone sealant. Silicone Color accommodates expansion and contraction — up to 25% of the joint width.
Which sealant is needed for a movement or expansion joint?
A flexible silicone sealant, such as Silicone Color. Rigid grout is not suitable here because it can crack. Balconies, terraces, pools, wall-to-floor junctions and corners are typical movement joints.
Can it be used in pools and under continuous water exposure?
Yes, it is also suitable for continuous contact with water. According to the TDS, it is suitable for pools and surfaces in permanent contact with water. It can also be used in movement joints in showers and wet rooms.
Does it match the grout colour?
Yes — it is available in 50 Color Fill shades, with the same codes as the Fugabella and Fugalite grouts. One colour runs from the grout to the silicone joint. This keeps the joint from standing out from the tone of the tiles.
Can it be used on marble or natural stone?
No, do not use it on marble or natural stone — the acetoxy silicone may stain the stone. For sensitive stone and marble, use the neutral sealant Neutro Color. On ceramic, porcelain stoneware and mosaics, Silicone Color is the right choice.
Silicone Color, Neutro Color or Silmat Color — which one do you need?
The choice depends on the material and surface. Silicone Color: ceramic, porcelain stoneware, mosaics, pools. Neutro Color: marble and sensitive stone, with neutral curing. Silmat Color: ultra-matte, paintable joint for matte tiles.
What joint width is it suitable for, and how much is needed?
It is suitable for joints between 6 and 25 mm wide. One 310 ml cartridge covers approximately 3 linear metres for a 10×10 mm joint. The width-to-depth ratio should be between 1 and 2; set the depth with Joint polyethylene backing filler.
Can the silicone be painted?
No, Silicone Color cannot be painted. If you need a paintable, ultramatt joint, Silmat Color is the right product. Silicone Color, however, is available in the grout color from the outset.
Can I apply it myself?
Yes, it is ready to use and can be applied with a manual or pneumatic gun. The joint must be clean, dry and free of grease; use masking tape along the edges and Joint backing filler to set the depth. Remove the masking tape immediately after tooling the silicone. For larger or pool projects, Masterworks installation is also available.
When should I NOT use it?
Do not use on natural stone, cement-based substrates, rubber, plastic or bitumen. Avoid joints exposed to heavy wear and concrete façades. It does not cure properly in enclosed, unventilated spaces.
