Does the tile sound hollow after laying? The adhesive did not penetrate the back — voids remained, the tile loosens. It does not slip on walls, spreads on floors. No voids, no cracks, no flaking. This is Kerakoll H40 Gel.

Made in Italy. Kerakoll, Sassuolo — building material innovation since 1968. H40 Gel is the successor to Biogel No Limits, the central product of the renewed H40 tile adhesive line.

  • Large format (up to 160x320 cm): no hollow sounds, no cracks — thixotropic & liquid mix, full bedding
  • Underfloor heating: adhesion does not break — S1 deformability, -40 °C – +90 °C heat resistance
  • Same for wall and floor: no need to change bags — less water for walls, more for floors
  • Gres, ceramic, stone, mosaic, glass: no product mistakes — one tile adhesive for everything
  • Terrace, pool, facade: does not flake after frost — adheres underwater and after freeze-thaw cycles
  • 60 minutes open time: no rush with large tiles — stress-free double application
  • Safe for indoor use: EC1 Plus — very low VOC emissions
  • Successor to Biogel No Limits: same category, updated formula

What is it suitable for?

Tiling materials: Gres tiles in all sizes — from 30x30 cm tiles up to 160x320 cm large format slabs. Thin and fabric-reinforced laminated panels. Ceramic, marble, natural stone, glass mosaic, terracotta, clinker, thermal and acoustic insulation panels.

Substrates: Cement screed, concrete, cement-based self-leveling compound (Planogel Ultra). Drywall, fiber-reinforced cement board. Lime and cement plaster, brick, aerated concrete. Waterproofing layer (Aquastop Nanoflex, Aquastop Green, Nanodefense Eco). Existing, fixed, intact covering. Underfloor heating (water-based, electric, heat-distributing plate, grooved systems).

After priming: Gypsum, anhydrite, wood, metal, PVC — Active Prime Fix or Active Prime Grip, indoor use only.

Spaces:

  • Residential: apartment, bathroom, kitchen, terrace, balcony
  • Commercial: restaurant, hotel, shop, office, waiting room
  • Industrial: hall, warehouse, factory
  • Special: pool (≈ 14 days waiting before filling), sauna, wellness, facade, street furniture

Not suitable for:

  • Substrate unevenness over 15 mm — first use self-leveling (Planogel Ultra)
  • For reactive waterproof membrane (RM type, EN 14891) — H40 Extreme reactive tile adhesive is required
  • Does not replace waterproofing on outdoor water-exposed surfaces by itself

Different task? Fast handover or cold season: H40 Advanced with accelerated adhesion. Moving substrate, facade, large slab reinforced with fabric: H40 Tech ultra-flexible. Industrial kitchen, lab, chemical exposure: H40 Extreme hybrid reactive.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a tile sound hollow after installation?
The tile adhesive did not fully saturate the back — voids remained underneath. With a thixotropic & fluid gel tile adhesive (e.g., Kerakoll H40 Gel), you get full bedding with no hollow spots.

Which tile adhesive is suitable for large slabs?
One that fully saturates the back of the tile and has at least 60 minutes open time. Kerakoll H40 Gel delivers both — tested up to 160x320 cm large slabs with a thixotropic & fluid mix.

What is a thixotropic & fluid mix, and why does it matter?
Thixotropic = tile does not slip on the wall. Fluid = spreads on the floor and fills voids under the tile. That’s why the same bag works for walls and floors — less water for walls, more for floors.

How many m² does a 25 kg bag of H40 Gel cover?
Material requirement ≈ 1.25 kg / m² / mm layer thickness. A 25 kg bag covers ≈ 4-5 m² for small tiles (4-5 mm bedding), ≈ 2-2.5 m² for large slabs (8-10 mm, double application).

Does it replace Biogel No Limits?
Yes. H40 Gel is the same category, an updated formula as part of the renewed H40 product line.

Which tile adhesive is suitable for underfloor heating?
Kerakoll H40 Gel is tested for all four common underfloor heating systems: wet, electric, heat-distributing plates, and milled. The S1 deformability and -40 °C to +90 °C temperature resistance withstand heating cycles.

What does the C2 TE S1 class and GT-2 mean?
C2 TE S1 is the EN 12004 certification — high adhesion, extended open time, deformable. GT is Kerakoll’s own system test for torsion and bending, GT-2 = medium-high deformability.

Can the tile adhesive be applied on tiles?
Yes, on existing fixed, intact tiling. The surface must be clean and free of grease. On absorbent cement substrates, priming is required beforehand (Active Prime Grip).

How much water is needed for a 25 kg bag?
For floors (more fluid): grey ≈ 9.5 l, white ≈ 8.25 l. For walls (more thixotropic): grey ≈ 7.5 l, white ≈ 6.25 l.

Can it be used in pools or showers?
Yes for pools — filling after ≈ 14 days. For showers, waterproofing is required first (Aquastop Nanogum or Nanodefense Eco), then H40 Gel is applied.

H40 System

H40 is Kerakoll’s structural gel adhesive line — every product tested with the GT method, suitable for porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone. All are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, underfloor heating, terraces, and swimming pools.

H40 tile adhesive line — which one do you need?

Application Product Classification
General tiling, large tile, underfloor heating H40 Gel GT-2, C2 TE S1
Fast setting, cold weather, water-sensitive natural stone H40 Advanced GT-2, C2F TE S1
Facade, moving substrate (wood, metal), large tile reinforced with fabric H40 Tech GT-3, C2 TE S2
Chemical and thermal resistance, metal substrate, highest strength H40 Extreme GT-3, R2 T

See the entire H40 range in the tile adhesives category. The system is completed with decorative grouts from Color Fill.

Primers: on gypsum, anhydrite, wood, metal, or PVC substrates, a primer is required before bonding — Active Prime Fix or Active Prime Grip (EP21 for H40 Extreme). Highly absorbent cement substrates can be pre-wetted or primed.

Waterproofing: in wet areas, H40 provides a monolithic, waterproof system with the Kerakoll waterproofing product line.
