Fast-setting ready screed
Is every mix different on site? Sometimes there is more water, other times less cement - leaving the floor weak in patches. Massetto Premix is a ready-mixed product; only clean water is needed. It has a semi-dry consistency and is easy to spread and compact. Ceramic tiles can be laid after just 24 hours. This is Kerakoll Massetto Premix.

Screed: Bonded screed (bonded directly to concrete) 20-80 mm; floating screed (laid on foil or insulation) 50-80 mm; underfloor heating, ≥ 30 mm above the pipes.
Floor coverings (with adhesive): Porcelain stoneware and ceramic tiles in all sizes, clinker, terracotta, glass and ceramic mosaics; natural stone, reconstituted stone, marble; parquet.
Substrates: Precast or cast-in-place concrete slabs and beds; lightweight cement screed; thermal and acoustic insulation panels.
Applications: Indoors and outdoors - apartments, houses, terraces; also surfaces exposed to frost and temperature fluctuations.
Not suitable:
The screeds belong to the self-levelling compounds and screeds category. All five are mineral, fast-drying screeds for bonded coverings. The difference lies in strength, covering time, and application location.

Why is site-mixed screed weak?
One of the main causes is too much mixing water: it reduces strength and slows drying. With ready-made screed, only the amount of water needs to be monitored: ≈ 1.75 l / 25 kg.
How long before the screed can be covered?
Ceramic tiles can be installed on 5 cm Massetto Premix screed after ≈ 24 hours, and parquet after ≈ 7 days. These times apply at +20 °C and 65% humidity. Drying takes longer in cold, humid weather.
What does semi-dry screed mean?
A semi-dry, compact mixture with no standing water. It does not flow: it is spread between screed rails, compacted, and then levelled off. Massetto Premix is this type of screed and can be mixed using both a concrete mixer and a screed pump.
How much screed is needed per 1 m²?
≈ 18 kg per centimetre. For a 5 cm thick screed, ≈ 90 kg/m², or 3.6 bags.
How thick should the screed be with underfloor heating?
At least 30 mm above the heating pipe; 50-80 mm as a floating screed. The initial heating may begin at least 5 days after installation, following the gradual protocol specified in EN 1264-4.
Is it suitable under parquet?
Yes, for glued parquet. Before installation, check that the screed complies with the local standard; if necessary, it can be reinforced with EP21. For large-format parquet or parquet made from unstable wood, please ask for our advice.
What is the difference between Massetto Premix and Keracem Pronto?
Keracem Pronto is stronger: CT-C30-F6 instead of C16-F4 (the number after C indicates compressive strength in N/mm²). It is also recommended for resilient floor coverings. Massetto Premix is an easy-to-install screed for homes, under ceramic tiles, stone, and parquet.
How should I measure the screed's moisture content?
Only with a calcium carbide (CM) meter. An electrical moisture meter gives fluctuating, unreliable readings with this screed.
When should I not use it?
If the planned load has not been checked, on a deforming substrate, or without expansion joints. It must not be used as an adhesive screed on concrete that has not fully cured either. Do not add any other binder, aggregate, colorant, or additive.
Can I apply it myself?
A product intended for professionals. Screed rails, thorough compaction, and precise expansion joints are required - this is best left to a professional. We also undertake installation.

Substrate: Dimensionally stable, dry, crack- and dust-free, free from rising damp, load-bearing surface. Along all vertical elements, an approximately 8–10 mm Tapetex edge strip is required over the full screed thickness. Tapetex edge strip is required over the full screed thickness.
Bonded screed (20–80 mm): For thicknesses below 40 mm or variable thicknesses, Ø 2 mm welded mesh with 50×50 mm spacing is placed between the lower third and half of the thickness. Bonding slurry: 2.5 parts 32.5/42.5 cement, 1 part Keraplast Eco P6, and 1 part water, applied to the pre-wetted substrate. The screed is applied fresh-on-fresh. Floating screed (50–80 mm): PE or PVC film as a vapour barrier, with min. 20 cm overlap, turned up along the walls to the full thickness. On insulation panels, the thickness and reinforcement must be designed according to the panel's deformation class.
Mixing: Use only clean water, approximately 1.75 l / 25 kg, in a concrete mixer or pneumatic screed pump. Mix to a semi-dry, compact consistency, without standing water. Pot life ≥ 3 hours.
Application: Set out level strips, fill, compact immediately, then strike off and smooth. For thick layers, compact each layer separately. For final smoothing, use a power trowel with a steel disc only moderately — a sealed surface crust slows drying and reduces adhesive adhesion. At pipe penetrations (min. 3 cm), dense galvanized mesh is required.
Joints: Cut movement joints to approximately 1/3 of the thickness, including at doorways and changes in dimensions. Indoors, max. 50 m² (8 m); with underfloor heating, 40 m²; outdoors, max. 25 m² (6 m).
Curing: Do not wet the screed. Protect it from direct sunlight and draughts during the first 24 hours. Apply between +5 °C and +35 °C; use warm mixing water in cold weather and cold mixing water in warm weather, and keep the bags in the shade.
Before tiling: Before parquet installation, measure moisture using the CM method.
