Is the concrete chipped, exposing rusty reinforcement? Cement patches are a different material — they don’t adhere, crack again, and the steel continues to rust. Geolite mineral geo-mortar: R4 strength, and alkaline chemistry passivates the concrete steel. One material with the concrete, monolithic repair. 2–40 mm in one layer, by hand or machine. This is Kerakoll Geolite.
Geolite is the first geo-mortar for repairing damaged reinforced concrete: Kerakoll geo-binder, with near-zero shrinkage and high chemical resistance.
-
Repair of chipped, crumbling reinforced concrete: mineral geo-mortar, class R4 (EN 1504-3) — one material with the concrete, not a patch that peels off again
-
Rusting concrete reinforcement: pH ≥ 12.5 alkaline chemistry passivates the steel (EN 1504-7) — stops corrosion, not just covers it
-
Does not sag overhead or on vertical surfaces: thixotropic consistency — 2–40 mm in one layer, holds on columns, beams, underside of slabs
-
Large surfaces, machine application: can be applied with continuous cycle pump — bridges, garage slabs, industrial floors progress quickly
-
Time needed for application: normal, 80-minute setting time — comfortable working window for large repairs (need fast? Geolite 10 / 40)
-
Material for structural reinforcement: the inorganic base structure of Geosteel SRG systems — embeds the Geosteel G steel mesh
-
Precise fixing of metal elements: anchors rods, washers, machines to reinforced concrete by pressing into holes
-
Non-combustible: A1 fire resistance class — natural mineral, geo-binder based composition

What is it suitable for?
Substrates: Healthy, load-bearing reinforced concrete and concrete — for outdoor and indoor use. Repair of damaged, chipped, eroded concrete structures. On horizontal concrete surfaces after Primer Uni substrate preparation.
Usage: Local and general restoration, smoothing, monolithic protection of reinforced concrete structures; reinforcing steel passivation; anchoring rods, base plates, machines; the base structure of the Geosteel G steel fabric (SRG) structural reinforcement systems. Especially suitable for medium and large surface interventions, machine application.
Not suitable for: contaminated, loose, crumbling, or dusty substrates; gypsum, metal, or wood; surfaces below +5 °C, above +40 °C, or frozen; liquid casting, formwork (for that use Geolite Magma); non-structural, aesthetic thin smoothing (for that use Geolite Silt).

-
Same-day handover, semi-fast (40 minutes): Geolite 40 — R4, waterproof, paintable after 4 hours
-
Fast setting, in cold (10 minutes): Geolite 10 — R4, waterproof
-
Poured into formwork, 10–100 mm: Geolite Magma — pourable, R4 (anchoring: Magma 20, fiber-reinforced FRC: Xenon)
-
Light aesthetic smoothing (2–50 mm): Geolite Silt — R2
Frequently asked questions
What can be used to repair chipped, crumbling concrete?
With a mineral, R4 class concrete repair mortar that passivates the exposed reinforcing steel. Geolite geo-mortar is a material with the concrete: not a patch that peels off again. First, remove the bad concrete down to the healthy part, and clean the rust off the steel.
Why does reinforcing steel rust, and how can it be stopped?
Reinforcing steel rusts when concrete carbonates or peels off, exposing the steel to air. Geolite’s alkaline chemistry (pH ≥ 12.5) passivates the steel again according to EN 1504-7. Rust must be cleaned off before application.
What does the R4 class mean for concrete repair mortar?
R4 is the highest structural repair mortar class according to EN 1504-3. It is high strength (compressive strength at 28 days > 50 N/mm²), suitable for restoring load-bearing structures. R3 and R2 are weaker, not for structural repairs.
What is thixotropic mortar?
Thixotropic mortar does not slump: it holds on vertical surfaces and overhead. Geolite can thus be applied on columns, beams, and under slabs in layers 2–40 mm thick. For casting into formwork, use the pourable Geolite Magma.
Geolite, Geolite 40, or Geolite 10 — which one do I need?
All three are R4 thixotropic concrete repair mortars, only the setting time differs. Geolite normal (80 minutes) — for large surfaces, machine application. Geolite 40 semi-fast (40 minutes), for same-day handover. Geolite 10 fast (10 minutes), for fixing and cold conditions.
Is a primer needed under the concrete repair mortar?
Not on vertical, healthy concrete: just wet the surface until saturation. On horizontal concrete surfaces, Primer Uni substrate preparation is recommended. The substrate must always be clean, solid, and rough.
How many m² does a 25 kg bag cover?
Material requirement ≈ 17 kg/m² per centimeter. For 10 mm repair, a 25 kg bag covers ≈ 1.5 m², for 20 mm ≈ 0.7 m². Thicker layers should be built up in multiple passes, max. 40 mm per layer.
When should I NOT use this concrete repair?
Do not apply on contaminated, loose, dusty, or crumbling substrates, gypsum, metal, or wood. Do not work below +5 °C, above +40 °C, on frozen surfaces, in rain, or in strong sunlight. For casting into formwork use Geolite Magma, for aesthetic thin smoothing use Geolite Silt.
Can I apply it myself?
Small, surface concrete repairs can be done by hand: demolition, cleaning, wetting, application. However, structural restoration and Geosteel reinforcement systems require structural design and expertise. We also undertake complete execution.
