Need to precisely anchor a machine or base plate? Shrinking mortar pulls away from the edge — loosening the fastening. Geolite Magma 20 is volume-expanding: it fills the space and holds tight. Pourable, sets in 20 minutes, R4 strength, 28 days > 80 N/mm². This is Kerakoll Geolite Magma 20.

Geolite is the first geo-mortar for repairing damaged reinforced concrete: Kerakoll geo-binder, with near-zero shrinkage and high chemical resistance.

  • Precision anchoring of machine, base plate, precast element: volume-expanding casting — fills the gap and holds tight, does not shrink from the edge
  • Fast commissioning: 20 minutes setting — the element can be loaded quickly, no installation delay (pot life ≈ 15 minutes, mix in small batches)
  • Works even in cold: fast even at low temperatures — industrial and airport floors, sidewalks in winter too
  • High load capacity: Class R4, 28 days > 80 N/mm² — one of the strongest in the family
  • Deep, cast repair: 10–100 mm in one pour (above 60 mm with Ghiaia 3.6 additive)
  • Manhole cover, railing, signpost, channel cover fastening: cast rod adhesion > 25 N/mm² — secure, durable fastening
  • Rusting reinforcing steel: alkaline mineral chemistry passivates the iron (EN 1504-7)
  • Non-combustible: A1 fire resistance class — geo-binder based, mineral composition
Type Pourable, volume-expanding anchoring geo-mortar (indoor and outdoor)
Binder Mineral geo-binder, inorganic
Performance Class R4 (EN 1504-3); compressive strength 28 days > 80 N/mm²
Layer thickness min. 10 mm – max. 100 mm (above 60 mm with Ghiaia 3.6)
Setting time fast, ≈ 20 minutes (pot life ≈ 15 minutes)
Material requirement ≈ 19.5 kg/m²/cm; 25 kg ≈ 1.3 m² (10 mm layer)
Packaging 25 kg bag
Storage ≈ 6 months

What is it suitable for?

Substrates: Healthy, load-bearing reinforced concrete and concrete — indoors and outdoors. On horizontal concrete after Primer Uni substrate preparation.

Usage: Precision fastening and structural anchoring of base plates, tensioners, plates, machines, precast structures, manhole covers, shafts, fences, signposts, guardrails; passivation, restoration, and monolithic consolidation of reinforced concrete structures by casting — especially for industrial and airport floors, sidewalks where low temperature and rapid commissioning are required.

Not suitable for: contaminated, loose, crumbling, or dusty substrates; gypsum, metal, or wood; layers thinner than 10 mm and vertical surfaces applied with a trowel without formwork (use thixotropic Geolite for that); surfaces below +5 °C, above +40 °C, or frozen.

The Geolite concrete repair system

1. Substrate preparation Primer Uni — adhesion and absorption control on horizontal concrete
2. Pourable anchoring Geolite Magma 20 — this product, volume-expanding R4 casting, 10–100 mm
3. Protective topcoat Geolite MicroSilicato — breathable, carbonation-inhibiting

Which pourable Geolite do you need?

  • Multipurpose casting, deep repair, no rush (60 minutes): Geolite Magma — R4
  • Fast precision anchoring, in cold (20 minutes): Geolite Magma 20 — this product, volume-expanding
  • Fiber-reinforced FRC, without reinforcement, ready mix: Geolite Magma Xenon — CVT certified, flexible
  • Manual/machine application, vertical surface (2–40 mm): Geolite — thixotropic, R4 (semi-fast: 40, fast: 10)
  • Lightweight, non-structural smoothing (2–50 mm): Geolite Silt — R2

Frequently asked questions

How can a machine or base plate be anchored precisely into concrete?
Pourable, volume-expanding R4 anchoring mortar that fills the gap and does not shrink. Geolite Magma 20 holds tightly, sets in 20 minutes, and the adhesion of the poured rod is > 25 N/mm². Use it poured into formwork or the hole.

What does volume-expanding mortar mean?
The volume-expanding (shrinkage-compensated) mortar does not shrink during setting. Thus, no gap remains around the anchored element — it provides a tight, gap-free fixation. This is crucial for precision machine foundations and manhole cover anchoring.

How fast does it set, and when can it be loaded?
Geolite Magma 20 sets in about 20 minutes at +21 °C, with a pot life of about 15 minutes. It sets slower in cold: about 35–40 minutes at +5 °C. Due to fast setting, only mix as much as you can pour in a short time.

What does the R4 class mean?
R4 is the highest structural repair mortar class according to EN 1504-3. High strength, for load-bearing structures — Magma 20’s 28-day compressive strength is > 80 N/mm², one of the strongest in the family. R3 and R2 are weaker, non-structural.

Geolite Magma, Magma 20, or Magma Xenon — which one do I need?
All three are pourable, R4 geo-mortars for different tasks. Magma 20 is fast (20 minutes) and volume-expanding — for precision anchoring, even in cold conditions. Magma is multipurpose, normal setting (60 minutes), for deep repairs. Magma Xenon is a ready fiber-reinforced FRC mix for reinforcement without rebar.

How thick can it be poured?
Between 10 and 100 mm in one pour. 10 mm is the minimum. Above 60 mm, add Ghiaia 3.6 gravel to reduce hydration heat. For thinner, manual repairs, the thixotropic Geolite is suitable.

Is a primer needed under the anchoring mortar?
On horizontal concrete surfaces, Primer Uni substrate preparation is recommended. The substrate must be clean, solid, and ≥ 5 mm rough; rust must be cleaned off the rebar. Before casting, wet the surface thoroughly.

When should I NOT use this anchoring mortar?
Do not use in layers thinner than 10 mm, on vertical surfaces with a trowel (without formwork), on dirty, loose, dusty substrates, gypsum, metal, or wood. Do not work with it below +5 °C, above +40 °C, on frozen surfaces, or in rain. For thin, manual repairs, the thixotropic Geolite is suitable.

Can I apply it myself?
Formwork and precision, fast-setting casting require expertise — machine foundation and anchoring require structural knowledge. Smaller cast fixings can be done by skilled hands. We also undertake complete execution.

- Repair and structural reinforcement of reinforced concrete and masonry works

User guide

Substrate preparation: Remove damaged concrete by mechanical or wet demolition down to healthy material, with a rough surface of ≥ 5 mm. Clean rust from the reinforcing steel by brushing or sandblasting, then remove dust. Moisten until saturated but free of surface water; apply Primer Uni to dry horizontal concrete surfaces.

Mixing (25 kg bag): ≈ 3.5 liters of clean water. Mix in a concrete mixer or with a low-speed mixer until homogeneous and lump-free. Due to fast setting (pot life ≈ 15 minutes), only mix as much as you can apply immediately.

Application: Pour into formwork or the damaged area, allowing air to escape. Minimum layer thickness 10 mm; for layers over 60–100 mm, add Ghiaia 3.6 aggregate. To anchor rods, fill the hole and insert the rod while rotating.

Curing: Keep moist for the first 24 hours, protecting from strong sun and wind.

Temperature: +5 °C – +40 °C. Do not apply on frozen surfaces, in rain, or in strong sunlight.

Pioneer in monolithic reinforced-concrete repair

Mineral geo-mortar based on a geo-binder

Geolite is the first geo-mortar for passivating, repairing, smoothing and protecting damaged reinforced concrete. Not a modified cement mortar—it is geo-binder-based, a single material with concrete. Monolithic repair with the durability of natural stone.

After curing, it is as hard as a rock.

Kerakoll geo-binder with virtually zero shrinkage

Kerakoll GreenLab’s geo-binder is made from natural raw materials—including kaolin and bauxite—with high-zirconium inorganic microfibres that increase mechanical strength. Virtually zero shrinkage, high chemical resistance, and outstanding mechanical strength—even under extreme conditions.

Stops rebar corrosion

Monolithic protection against passivation loss and carbonation

Carbonation is one of the main causes of reinforced concrete deterioration: the concrete loses its alkalinity, the steel reinforcement rusts, and the surface spalls. Geolite’s alkaline mineral chemistry re-passivates the reinforcing steel (EN 1504-7), while the structural repair mortars provide R4-class load-bearing performance (EN 1504-3).

One system, from repair to protection

Thixotropic, pourable, smoothing and carbonation-protection products

Hand-applied repairs on vertical surfaces, pourable formwork repairs, fiber-reinforced strengthening without rebar, aesthetic smoothing and breathable protective paint — all in one product range. The mineral geo-mortars have an A1 fire-resistance classification; the product range has low emissions and certified GreenBuilding credentials.
