What is it suitable for?
Substrates: Mature, dimensionally stable, dense concrete and reinforced concrete — exposed concrete facades, balcony undersides, eaves, residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Concrete repaired with Geolite family geo-mortars or traditional mortar. Mature plasters and mineral substrates.
Usage: Breathable, decorative protection against carbonation for new or repaired concrete structures; surface protection for reinforcement systems based on Geolite Gel or Geocalce. For exterior and interior use.
Not suitable for: damp, immature, contaminated, loose, or dusty substrates; moisture-sealed (dehumidifying) plasters; gypsum-based substrates; surfaces exposed to water storage, continuous water contact, or rising damp.

What is carbonation?
Carbonation occurs when CO₂ from the air penetrates the concrete and lowers its alkalinity. This causes the steel reinforcement to lose its protection and start rusting — rust expands, causing the concrete to flake. A CO₂-blocking, breathable geo-paint prevents this.
Why is silicate paint better on concrete than plastic paint?
Silicate (potassium silicate) paint chemically bonds with the concrete and breathes — it allows moisture to escape. Film-forming plastic paint traps moisture behind it, which accumulates and causes peeling. Geolite Microsilicato has Class I moisture permeability (SD < 5 m).
When can repaired concrete be painted?
Concrete repaired with Geolite 10 or Geolite 40 geo-mortar can be painted with Microsilicato after 4 hours. The concrete must be mature and dimensionally stable. The paint seals and unifies the repaired surface within one day.
How much area does one bucket cover?
Material consumption is approximately 0.35 l/m² in two coats on a fine-grained substrate. A 4 l bucket covers about 11 m², a 14 l bucket about 40 m². Rough or absorbent surfaces consume more.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes, Geolite Microsilicato is suitable for both exterior and interior use. It is a breathable silicate coating that works well on indoor concrete surfaces. However, do not use it on surfaces exposed to continuous water contact in wet rooms.
When should I NOT use it?
Do not apply on damp, immature, dusty, or loose concrete, gypsum, or moisture-sealed plaster. It is also unsuitable for surfaces exposed to water storage, continuous water contact, or rising damp. The surface must be clean, dense, and dimensionally stable.
Can I apply it myself?
