Deep concrete defect, cavity you can’t fill with a trowel? Thixotropic mortar stops there — it doesn’t flow into formwork or between rebar. Geolite Magma is castable: it flows in, fills, self-compacts. R4 strength, 10–100 mm in one pour, 28 days > 75 N/mm². This is Kerakoll Geolite Magma.

Geolite is the first geo-mortar for repairing damaged reinforced concrete: Kerakoll geo-binder, with near-zero shrinkage and high chemical resistance.

  • Deep cavity, casting into formwork, between dense reinforcement: castable geo-mortar — flows in, fills, self-compacts where a trowel can’t reach
  • Load-bearing structure restoration: Class R4, 28 days > 75 N/mm² compressive strength — high strength, monolithic consolidation
  • Thick cross-section replacement in one go: 10–100 mm in one pour (above 60 mm with Ghiaia 3.6 additive)
  • Precision anchoring of machines, base plates, rods: cast into holes or formwork — adhesion of cast rod > 25 N/mm²
  • Plenty of working time: normal, 60-minute set, ≥ 45 minutes pot life — comfortable even for large pours (need fast? Geolite Magma 20)
  • Fiber-reinforced reinforcement without rebar: the castable base of the certified Geolite FRC system with Steel Fiber
  • Rusting reinforcing steel: alkaline mineral chemistry passivates the steel (EN 1504-7) — stops corrosion
  • Non-combustible: A1 fire resistance class — geo-binder based, mineral composition
Type Castable concrete repair geo-mortar (indoor and outdoor)
Binder Mineral geo-binder, inorganic
Performance Class R4 (EN 1504-3); compressive strength at 28 days > 75 N/mm²
Layer thickness 10 – 100 mm (above 60 mm with Ghiaia 3.6)
Setting time normal, ≈ 60 minutes (pot life ≥ 45 minutes)
Material requirement ≈ 19 kg/m²/cm; 25 kg ≈ 1.3 m² (10 mm layer)
Packaging 25 kg bag
Storage ≈ 12 months

What is it suitable for?

Substrates: Healthy, load-bearing reinforced concrete and concrete — indoors and outdoors. Deep restoration of damaged, eroded, hollow concrete structures. On horizontal concrete after Primer Uni substrate preparation.

Usage: Passivation, restoration, and monolithic consolidation of reinforced concrete structures and infrastructures by casting — into formwork for vertical elements, arch crowns, underpinning; precision anchoring of machines, base plates, tendons, rods; the castable base structure of the certified Geolite FRC fiber-reinforced system made with Steel Fiber.

Not suitable for: contaminated, loose, crumbling, or dusty substrates; gypsum, metal, or wood; layers thinner than 10 mm and vertical surfaces applied with a trowel without formwork (for that use the thixotropic Geolite); surfaces below +5 °C, above +40 °C, or frozen.

The Geolite concrete repair system

1. Substrate preparation Primer Uni — adhesion and absorption control on horizontal concrete
2. Pourable repair Geolite Magma — this product, R4 consolidation by casting, 10–100 mm
2/b. Fiber reinforcement (optional) Steel Fiber — for the Geolite FRC system, without reinforcement
3. Protective topcoat Geolite MicroSilicato — breathable, carbonation inhibitor

Which pourable Geolite do you need?

  • Multipurpose casting, deep repair, if you have time (60 minutes): Geolite Magma — this product, R4
  • Fast precision anchoring, in cold (20 minutes): Geolite Magma 20 — pourable, volume expanding
  • Fiber-reinforced FRC, without reinforcement, ready mix: Geolite Magma Xenon — CVT certified, flexible
  • Manual/machine application, vertical surface (2–40 mm): Geolite — thixotropic, R4 (medium fast: 40, fast: 10)
  • Lightweight, non-structural smoothing (2–50 mm): Geolite Silt — R2

Frequently asked questions

How to fill a deep concrete defect or cavity?
Pourable, R4 class concrete repair with geo-mortar that flows in and self-compacts. Geolite Magma flows into formwork, cavities, and dense reinforcement, 10–100 mm thick in one pour. Thixotropic mortar applied with a trowel does not fill such depths evenly.

What is the difference between pourable and thixotropic concrete repair?
The pourable mortar (Geolite Magma) flows in and fills the formwork — for formwork, cavities, deep repairs. The thixotropic mortar (Geolite) does not flow, it stays in place on vertical surfaces and overhead. For deep, cast repairs use the pourable, for thin surface repairs use the thixotropic.

What does the R4 class mean?
R4 is the highest structural repair mortar class according to EN 1504-3. It is high strength, suitable for restoring load-bearing structures — Geolite Magma’s 28-day compressive strength is > 75 N/mm². R3 and R2 are weaker, not for structural repairs.

How thick can this castable mortar be poured?
Between 10 and 100 mm in one pour. 10 mm is the minimum. For layers over 60 mm, Ghiaia 3.6 gravel must be added to reduce hydration heat. For layers thinner than 10 mm, the thixotropic Geolite is suitable.

Geolite Magma, Magma 20, or Magma Xenon — which one do I need?
All three are castable, R4 geo-mortars for different tasks. Magma is multipurpose, normal setting (60 minutes) — for deep repairs and casting. Magma 20 is fast (20 minutes), volume-expanding — for precision anchoring. Magma Xenon is a ready fiber-reinforced FRC mix for reinforcement without rebar.

What is the Geolite FRC fiber-reinforced system?
Geolite FRC is a mixture of Geolite Magma and Steel Fiber steel fibers — a castable, fiber-reinforced concrete reinforcement. It provides structural load-bearing capacity without built-in rebar, certified by CVT. The fibers are added to the mix in the ratio specified in the TDS.

Is a primer needed under the castable mortar?
On horizontal concrete surfaces, Primer Uni substrate preparation is recommended for proper absorption. Always use a clean, solid, ≥ 5 mm rough substrate; rust must be cleaned off the rebar. Before casting, wet the surface to saturation.

How many m² does a 25 kg bag cover?
Material requirement ≈ 19 kg/m² per centimeter. For a 10 mm layer, a 25 kg bag covers ≈ 1.3 m², for 50 mm ≈ 0.26 m². For deep casting, many bags are needed due to the large thickness.

When should I NOT use this mortar?
Do not use in layers thinner than 10 mm, on vertical surfaces with a trowel (without formwork), on contaminated, loose, or dusty substrates, on gypsum, metal, or wood. Do not work with it below +5 °C, above +40 °C, on frozen surfaces, or in rain. For thin, manual repairs, the thixotropic Geolite is suitable.

Can I apply it myself?
Formwork, cast pouring, and fiber-reinforced FRC or Geosteel reinforcement require structural design and expertise — the load-bearing capacity depends on it. Minor cast repairs can be done by an experienced hand. We also undertake complete execution.

The pioneer of monolithic reinforced concrete repair

Mineral, geo-binder based geo-mortar

Geolite is the first geo-mortar for passivating, repairing, smoothing, and protecting damaged reinforced concrete. It is an unmodified cement mortar — a geo-binder material compatible with concrete. Monolithic repair with the durability of natural rock.

After curing, hard as a rock.

Kerakoll geo-binder with near-zero shrinkage

The Kerakoll GreenLab geo-binder is made from natural raw materials — including kaolin and bauxite — with high zirconium-content inorganic microfibers that enhance mechanical strength. Practically zero shrinkage, high chemical resistance, and outstanding mechanical strength — even under extreme conditions.

Stops the corrosion of reinforcing steel

Monolithic protection against passivation and carbonation

Carbonation is one of the main causes of reinforced concrete deterioration: the concrete loses its alkalinity, the steel rusts, and the surface flakes. Geolite's alkaline, mineral chemistry re-passivates the reinforcing steel (EN 1504-7); the structural repair mortars have R4 class (EN 1504-3) load-bearing capacity.

One system, from repair to protection

Thixotropic, pourable, smoothing, and carbonation-inhibiting components

Manual repair on vertical surfaces, pourable replacement in formwork, fiber-reinforced strengthening without reinforcement bars, aesthetic smoothing, and breathable protective paint — all in one product family. The mineral geo-mortars are classified as A1 fire-resistant; the product family is low-emission and certified with GreenBuilding approval.
